Founding Membersedit
At Cornell, several researchers are actively involved in the study of various aspects of language acquisition, ie., Professors Barbara Lust, Marianella Casasola, and Qi Wang. The Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology is now formed on the lower campus of Cornell and has been linked to the Virtual Center. Professors James Gair and Claire Cardie provide consultation in linguistic theory and typology, and in computer science, respectively.
In addition founding members of the new Virtual Center include researchers at California State University at San Bernadino (Prof. Yu-Chin Chien), Rutgers, Newark, (Prof. Jennifer Austin), Rutgers, New Brunswick (Prof. Liliana Sanchez), Southern Illinois University, (Prof. Usha Lakshmanan). Several international sites (including India, Peru and Taiwan) are linked to the VCLA through collaborative research. Finally, other labs conducting brain imaging research are linked to the VCLA, including Prof. Gita Martohardjono at CUNY Graduate Center.
